Our Programmes and Services

Thandanani is a youth driven

passionate and focused group of volunteers striving to find new and innovative ways to uplift our community, as well as ourselves. We are at the heart of the battle against poverty, unemployment and drug abuse that is ravaging our community. In the years of serving our community we have come to witness and realise that indeed prevention is better than cure and education is the chief cornerstone and enabler of any growing nation. For many years Thandanani has actively advocated and fought against Drug and Substance abuse in the Mamelodi community. Thandanani is guided by the Prevention and Treatment of Substance Abuse Act (Act 70 of 2008) and especially chapter 4, in terms of implementation of prevention and early intervention services. Thandanani is actively involved in the activities of Local Drug Action Committees as required by the National Drug Muster Plan section 60 of the act.

The services and programmes provided by Thandanani

were developed and adapted over the years to meet the changing needs of community members, especially those of children and young people living in difficult circumstances. The programmes and services rendered by Thandanani are provided on an on-going basis and are aligned to Prevention; Early Intervention, Rehabilitation and Reintegration.
